Spinal Snacks & Shoulder Stacks

Did you know that looking down at your phone can add up to 60 pounds of extra pressure on your cervical spine and neck muscles? (Yeah… not exactly ideal.)

Lately, I’ve been celebrating small wins, like getting my screen time down from nearly five hours to three and a half. Huge win! That said, it’s not realistic to eliminate screens completely. But what is realistic is using our yoga practice to counter some of their effects and improve our posture.

How do we do that? We start by building the muscles on the back of the neck, becoming aware of our habits, and making conscious shifts. In this class, we’ll explore that decision-making process through how we arrange our shoulders, where we place our gaze, and the subtle choices we make in each posture.

It’s kind of wild how quickly our bodies revert to "factory settings" when we stop paying attention. And let’s be honest, those settings aren’t always the healthiest. So we practice something different.

And as a cherry on top? We’ll strengthen our abdominals, especially the obliques, for extra support and spinal happiness. This magic combo helps promote a strong, resilient posture, both on the mat and in daily life.

It is important to me that no one is denied access to movement classes or their yoga practice due to cost. So, this is a Pay What You Can class, which means it's totally free! However, if you're able and would like to contribute, your support is greatly appreciated and helps me continue offering free classes in the future. I will be updating this class once a week, so there is always something new for you to try!
